The laboratory services operate on a 24 hour basis for urgent investigations and to a scheduled workflow for routine testing. They serve inpatients, outpatients, the emergency department and referring hospitals across the South East.

Chemical pathology units
Clinical chemistry is provided on blood, urine, ascitic fluid, cerebrospinal fluid and other specimens, using equipment supplied under the hospital's re-equipping programme.

Quality
Standard operating procedures, internal quality control and participation in external quality assessment underpin result accuracy. Laboratories double as training sites for medical laboratory science interns and students from the University of Nigeria and other institutions, and for resident doctors in pathology.
