UNTH is committed to upholding the rights of every patient in line with Nigeria's Patient Bill of Rights (2018) and to providing safe, respectful, and equitable care.
What you can expect from us
- Access to relevant information
You have the right to relevant information about your health condition, proposed treatment, expected outcomes, alternatives, and costs, provided in a language you understand.
- Access to timely care
You have the right to access care that meets your health needs and to be told if the hospital cannot meet those needs.
- Dignity and respect
You have the right to be treated with respect, courtesy, and consideration of your privacy, values, and beliefs.
- Privacy and confidentiality
Your medical information will be kept confidential and disclosed only as permitted by law or with your consent.
- Consent to treatment
You have the right to accept or refuse any recommended treatment after being adequately informed, except in circumstances defined by law.
- A second opinion
You have the right to request a second medical opinion from another qualified clinician.
- Complaints
You have the right to complain if you are dissatisfied with the care you receive and to have your complaint promptly addressed.
- Freedom from discrimination
You will not be discriminated against based on gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability, or socio-economic status.
How you can help us care for you

- ✓Follow the treatment plan agreed with your clinical team, and ask questions if anything is unclear.
- ✓Respect the rights, privacy, and dignity of other patients, visitors, and staff.
- ✓Observe hospital rules including visiting hours, hygiene, and safety instructions.
- ✓Settle bills and provide accurate insurance information as applicable.
- ✓Take reasonable care to preserve hospital property.
