How admission works

Each programme runs its own intake cycle. Advertised openings are published on the hospital notice boards, in national newspapers and in the news section of this website. Applicants should follow the requirements stated in the advertisement for the programme concerned.

General requirements

• Completed application form for the programme
• Academic certificates and transcripts
• Professional registration where applicable
• Birth certificate or declaration of age and evidence of state of origin
• Recent passport photographs and referee details
• Evidence of payment of the applicable application fee

Selection

• Screening of applications against published criteria
• Written entrance examination where required
• Interview by the relevant selection committee
• Offer of placement and confirmation of resumption date

School of Nursing: three-stage selection

Applications for entry into the School of Nursing open in December and close in January of the following year. Selection follows three stages, and intake is once a year.

• The Schools Common Entrance Examination conducted by TEDRO (WAEC), held around April; candidates from sixteen years of age are eligible
• A written examination for candidates invited to interview
• An oral interview, after which sixty candidates per selection are offered provisional admission in order of performance, with a short waiting list maintained for ties
• Successful candidates begin training in October following interviews held around June

School of Nursing: entry requirements

• Full secondary education with five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, at not more than two sittings
• Written consent from a parent or guardian undertaking to support completion of the course
• Students do not pay tuition fees; other school fees are set and reviewed by hospital management

Application windows, entrance examination dates, Post-UTME form sales, screening notices and internship advertisements change every cycle. They are published as news items and on the hospital notice boards, and are never treated as permanent programme information on this site. Always rely on the current published notice for dates and fees.
